January 30th: National Croissant Day
A Croissant is a crescent shaped bread that can be eaten on its own, topped with chocoalte and fruitĀ or as a sandwich with fillings. Some food historians believe that croissants were created by people of the middle ages to worship the moon. While other historians say that croissants were developed in Budapest during the late 1600’s when Turkey invaded them. The shape of the bread was ment to mock the Turkish flag.
A croissant is not the healthiest bread choice as one croissant often has over 300 calories. However to many people the unhealthiness of a croissant is small sacrafice to make for its delicious taste.
