Cheese Fondue dervies from Switzerland. Fondue comes from the french word ‘fondre’ which means ‘to melt’ and ‘fondu’ which means ‘melted’.

Traditionally fondue was was shared at a table in an earthenware pot over a small burner. Today fondue is kept melted in a fondue dish which is heated by a tea light candle or an alcohol burner.

On a long, thin fork people pick up small bits of food and dip them into their cheese fondue. Foods such as breads, vegetables and meat can be used.
